New Feature: Add Point-layers to your maps

“Do you have a map of our polling places?”

Anyone who has worked on a campaign has heard this question asked during GOTV.

As absentee ballots start coming in and in-person early voting begins, everyone is going to be focused on voter turnout. Empower Engine makes it easy for campaigns to track that turnout with maps that update regularly with data from the VAN.

Now, thanks to our new point-layer feature, you can add more information to your map with a single click. Let’s say you want to see a map of your GOTV targets who have yet to vote as Election Day draws near. Now, you can add the polling places on top of that map to further guide your resource allocation.

All we need is a list

Whether you want to see your election day polling locations, early vote locations, or ballot drop boxes, all we need is a list. A simple spreadsheet with latitude and longitude columns, and any naming information, such as an address, hours of operation, etc. In the coming weeks, we’ll be completing our integration with the DNC’s BigQuery, so your data staff can set up your point layers to update directly from there.

As you can see from the picture above, if you click your point-layer, you’ll see whatever information you provided on your list.

Your point-layers are available on District Reports

Empower Engine’s district reports are the simplest way for admin users to share important maps with teammates and outside allies. They come with a cover page that includes links to a live read-only map. Your point-layers will be available on those live maps.

The links on the cover page of a District Report will take you to a live read-only map. Now you can add your point-layers in a single click.
